Would be interested to connect with any youth guys from larger churches that are effectively reaching the next generation through outreach. Would love to steal some of your ideas - open for breakfast or lunch anytime during the convention. jack@oakpointe.org - or call my cell 248-880-8796
What do you mean by largeer churhes and what do you mean by effectively? (hippie voice) It's all realative bro.
Good point bro - probably worded poorly... I am just curious as to what other groups are doing that has been effective in drawing in the "unchurched". The obvious struggle is that what might draw in one group of people at the same time can keep others away. I guess I am really looking forward to this conference in hearing what others are doing that actually is working! While I am involved in church-wide outreach initiatives, I am specifically passionate about reaching youth, and want to know what others are doing! I love the opportunity to network and just learn from others - - -
If you are someone that has a passion for youth - and have any free time to grab a meal, let me know!
Sherri,
wow, that sounds really great! Those are the sorts of ideas that are so out of the box... i love it! Our church recently started partnering with the parks and rec too - but nothing as dynamic as that!
I have had a few other email me about getting together so I am thinking of trying to set something up during the lunch hour on Thursday - I will call you and let you know! I would love to hear more about how that specific ministry has gone, and more specifically how the community has responded.
I would be happy to have a conversation with anybody about what it will take to create effective outreach to today's youth. Please see me at booth #415, Ron Hutchcraft Ministries. thanks!
Hey Sherri - we are going to gather during lunch today in the area outside of the DELI on campus - so people can grab something to eat for lunch and sit around and talk! I am wearing a red polo shirt with white stripes - ha :)
