A pastor, theologian, author and church planter, David Fitch is passionate about nurturing established churches and new church plants into the fuller participation in the Mission of God (missio dei) in the world. He often writes and consults extensively on the problems of Church in the new cultures of post-Christendom and post-modernity and is the author of The Great Giveaway:Reclaiming the Mission of the Church From American Businesses, Parachurch Organizations, Psychotherapy, Consumer Capitalism and Other Modern Maladies (Baker). Fitch serves as B R Lindner Chair of Evangelical Theology at Northern Seminary and is immersed in Life on the Vine, a missional church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
